Description: Monument to Emperor Alexander III (1908). From a monument the pedestal of a monument to Alexander III was kept up to now only. In honour of the termination(ending) of construction of the Great transsiberian trunk-railway was solved to establish 3 monuments to Alexander III considered as the patron of the Siberian construction (in St.-Petersburg in 1909 and in Moscow in 1912). In 1902 the All-Russia competition on a construction of a memorable monument in Irkutsk was declared.The project of sculptor R.R.Baha, representing Alexander's figure III on a granite pedestal, was recognized as the best. In 1920 under the Decree about monuments of republic the bronze sculpture of tsar and bronze inscriptions on the polished granite " to Emperor Alexander III " and " Grateful Siberia " have cleaned(removed). In 1960. Instead of a figure of tsar have established a concrete pyramidal spike under the project of Irkutsk architect V.P.Shmatkova.
