Envelopes [Irkutsk]. Monument to emperor Alexander III

Description: On June, 22nd, 1903 in Irkutsk the base of a monument has been incorporated, and solemn opening took place on August, 30th 1908g. " to the Majestic founder of the Great Siberian way in �� to emperor Alexander III ". Height of a monument of 13,5 meters. A place for a monument have chosen there, where the central street of city (greater, nowadays Charles Marx's street) Approached to the river Angara, and on opposite I protect were well visible a building of station both running on the West and the east of a train on the Trans-Siberian Railway (Moscow-Wladivostok - 9288 km). The author of a monument - R.R.Bah, on four sides of the top part of a pedestal has arranged bas-reliefs ��, Siberian general-governors M.M.Spiranskogo and N.N.Muravyova, and also the two-headed eagle holding in claws a roll with Alexander III. In 1920 the decision provincial revolutionary committee a figure of tsar from a pedestal have removed and have brought down bronze inscriptions " to Emperor Alexander III " and " Grateful Siberia ". Till 1964 the pedestal was empty, while under the project of architect V.P.Shmatkova on it the tetrahedral seven-meter spike is not established, and the monument began to refer to to " Subjugators of Siberia " covers �186-1989 , PK 1969�., PK 1980�. The decision to reconstruct a monument to recreate its original form belongs to collective Vostochno-Sibirskoj of the-Siberian railway. The project of reconstruction of a monument is carried out by institute "Gildorproekt".
